Walmart's Greenwash


You may have noticed that Walmart recently gave itself a make-over. Like a lot of corporations trying to curry favour with a growing number of consumers who want products that match their personal values, Walmart has taken on a trendy new-look that capitalizes on something called CSR. Just in case you don’t know, CSR is a new business buzz-term that stands for Corporate Social Responsibility.


The idea of large companies developing a social conscience and finally taking responsibility for their actions is a refreshing thought, but the last thing we want to do as workers and consumers is to give them the benefit of the doubt. It’s our job as workers and consumers to make sure corporations aren’t using CSR to pull a fast one on us, and to see to it that companies like Walmart are walking the talk.
